My Work with Families and Individuals

In addition to "at-home family coaching," I counsel individuals and couples in a traditional office environment.

My practice includes:

  • At-Home Family Coaching

  • Child/adult stress and anxiety issues:: When individuals come to me with concerns about stress or anxiety , I pose questions regarding their “thinking processes”—what occupies their thoughts? Together we look at their life style to understand how they maintain balance in body, mind, and spirit. With children, I explore their play and work life at school and at home.

  • Life Transitions: Both men and women need differing support and resources as they face work related stresses, death of family members, illness, and retirement. Important questions in this regard relate to how they view and use their resources. Their own personal strengths -- emotional, cognitive and spiritual -- are key avenues in managing these life transitions. I assist them in working from these strengths.

  • Couples Counseling: I like to initiate my work with couples by asking them to take the Gottman inventories. This assessment tool is an easy simple means for couples to reflect on their similarities and differences. It's a beginning in discovering how they communicate on important issues. I see the initial part of sessions focusing on "how each spouse understands and communicates their mutual needs in the relationship."
